When is the best time to ski in Cauterets?
Cauterets usually opens at the beginning of December, a good moment to do a getaway: you can get good prices and there are fewer crowds. From January onwards, when snow conditions are optimal, is also a good time, although prices may rise.
How many kilometres and slopes does the Cauterets ski area have?
The Cauterets ski resort has 40 kilometres and 23 slopes, with different levels of difficulty: 4 green slopes, 9 blue slopes, 8 red slopes and 2 black slopes. They are all connected by a network of 15 ski lifts. The slopes are between 1,460 and 2,415 metres above sea level. There is also a snowpark and itineraries for cross-country skiing, sledging and snowshoeing.
Are there snowparks and off-piste areas?
Yes, the Cauterets ski resort has the peculiarity of having the first snowpark in Europe. It's great fun and offers all kinds of modules for freestylers. Also, there are areas for off-piste skiing in Cirque du Lys, but it is advisable to do so in the company of qualified guides from the resort in order to do it safely.
